Liquid applied roofing is one of the two named specialisms of K Pendlebury & Sons. We install cold applied liquid waterproofing systems on commercial flat roofs across the North West, as accredited contractors for Kemper and Tremco, two of the leading liquid system manufacturers.
Seamless waterproofing with no open flame
A liquid applied system is rolled or brushed onto the roof as a liquid and cures into a single seamless membrane. There are no laps, seams or joints, and laps and seams are where sheet membranes most often fail, so a liquid system removes the most common failure points at the moment of installation.
Liquid systems are also applied cold. No torch and no open flame means they suit buildings where hot works are restricted, and occupied buildings that must keep operating during the works.
Made for complex roofs
The more complicated a roof is, the stronger the case for liquid. Plant, pipework, rooflights, upstands and penetrations are slow and difficult to detail in sheet membranes, because every obstacle needs cutting, forming and sealing. A liquid membrane is simply applied around and up each detail as one continuous coating, which is why liquid systems are often specified on plant-heavy commercial roofs.
Liquid also overlays well. Applied over a prepared existing roof, a liquid system can extend the life of the waterproofing without a full strip, keeping cost and disruption down when the existing build-up is sound and dry.
Accredited installation, honest specification
We are accredited contractors for Kemper and Tremco, and Tremco's own technical services manager has said that Tremco has no difficulty in giving Pendlebury the highest recommendation. Because we also install felt, single ply and green roof systems, our advice on whether liquid is right for your roof is based on the roof, not on the only product we sell. Is a liquid roof as durable as a felt or single ply roof?+
Yes, when the right system is specified and installed correctly. The leading liquid systems from manufacturers such as Kemper and Tremco carry manufacturer guarantees comparable to sheet systems, and accredited installation is what qualifies the roof for that guarantee.
Can a liquid system go over my existing flat roof?+
Often, yes. Liquid systems are well suited to overlaying a prepared existing roof, provided the survey shows the existing build-up is dry and sound. Our survey is free and will confirm whether an overlay is viable.
Why choose liquid over felt or single ply?+
Choose liquid when the roof has many details, when hot works are restricted, or when an overlay is the goal. Choose sheet systems when large open areas make them more economical. We install both, so we will recommend whichever suits your roof.
Does the building need to close during installation?+
Normally no. Liquid systems are applied cold with no flame, and we routinely work on live, occupied buildings while normal operations continue underneath.
